Harvest 2026

St Peter’s welcomes Primary school and Jubilee Foodbank.

It was a pleasure to welcome the Headteacher, Mr Ross, children, staff, parents and carers of Church Langton Primary school for their annual 2026 Harvest Festival to worship together.

A packed church heard delightful singing from each year group, thoughtful prayers as well as Bible readings and poems.

Jubilee Foodbank Market Harborough

Special guests this year, invited by Year 5 teacher Mrs Russell, were the Jubilee Foodbank.

Mike and Alison, who are volunteers, gave valuable insight into the workings of the Foodbank and how essential their work is in Market Harborough and the surrounding villages. Parents and staff were surprised to hear that at the moment around 100 referrals are made every week. “This is a tremendous amount of food that we distribute, so every donation is so gratefully received,” Mike told the congregation. Alison told of personal childhood memories when her father’s job was in trouble during the Miner’s strike and how food was very scarce. Alison continued, “Please be rest assured that every referral is treated completely confidentially. I know how it felt to rely on others for such a basic need.”

The service concluded with thanks from Mr Ross the Headteacher and a rousing rendition of We plough the fields and scatter. The good seed on the land.

Praise the Lord

Harvest Service 2026

Harvest Service Sunday 11th October: Thank You!

A HUGE thank you to everyone who attended the service today, what a special Harvest service it was? We sang all the classic Harvest hymns, Come Ye Thankful People Come, We Plough the Fields and Scatter and The Trees of the Field.

This hymn was especially apt given the extraordinary sight that greeted us, the church was filled not only with flowers but young silver birch trees. These beautiful decorations were placed in church to celebrate a family wedding the day before. We are so grateful to the families to allow us to enjoy these trees and flowers today.

While we sang, prayed and enjoyed this special communion, the trees shimmered in the sunlight through the windows and I believe they were clapping along with us! Read the words and enjoy the photos by clicking on one to zoom up and the arrows to view each one.

The Trees of the Field

You shall go out with joy And be led forth with peace, the mountains and the hills
Will break forth before you
There’ll be shouts of joy
And all the trees of the field
Will clap, will clap their hands
And all the trees of the field Will clap their hands
The trees of the field Will clap their hands
The trees of the field Will clap their hands
While you go out with joy

Come, ye thankful people, come,
Raise the song of harvest home!
All is safely gathered in,
Ere the winter storms begin;
God, our Maker, doth provide
For our wants to be supplied;
Come to God’s own temple, come,
Raise the song of harvest home
