Harvest Service Sunday 11th October: Thank You!
A HUGE thank you to everyone who attended the service today, what a special Harvest service it was? We sang all the classic Harvest hymns, Come Ye Thankful People Come, We Plough the Fields and Scatter and The Trees of the Field.
This hymn was especially apt given the extraordinary sight that greeted us, the church was filled not only with flowers but young silver birch trees. These beautiful decorations were placed in church to celebrate a family wedding the day before. We are so grateful to the families to allow us to enjoy these trees and flowers today.
While we sang, prayed and enjoyed this special communion, the trees shimmered in the sunlight through the windows and I believe they were clapping along with us! Read the words and enjoy the photos by clicking on one to zoom up and the arrows to view each one.
The Trees of the Field
You shall go out with joy And be led forth with peace, the mountains and the hills
Will break forth before you
There’ll be shouts of joy
And all the trees of the field
Will clap, will clap their hands
And all the trees of the field Will clap their hands
The trees of the field Will clap their hands
The trees of the field Will clap their hands
While you go out with joy
