The Cream Teas have now finished for the year. Thanks to all who supported us through out the Summer and a big, big thank you to all the helpers.
It was decided because of the Covid Pandemic to move the Cream Teas to the Langton Community Hall in order that folks had access to toilet facilities and washing of hands. Whilst the Community Hall was lovely, it was not without it’s difficulties and folks did miss the atmosphere of the Church, even though it was warmer!
The total raised after expenses was £1,146.00. This will go towards the upkeep of the building, many thanks once more, see you next year!
Simon Ainge, Organist at Billesdon Church, will play works composed by George Frideric Handel and others in a special recital to celebrate the birthday of Rev’d William Hanbury, also on 26th September, who was responsible for organising the first performance of Handel’s, Messiah in a Parish Church in 1759. We are delighted to welcome Simon who has selected a lovely and varied programme for the occasion.
Please note the event is ticketed – £5 and £8, see full details below – and please note that full facilities as well as car parking are available at the Langton Community Hall which is approximately 10 minutes’ walk further along, just after the school.
Recital starts promptly at 2.30pm, so please take your seats in advance and allow time to park at the Community Hall and walk down. Concert will last approximately one hour.

Join our guided tour of the church, highlighting the architectural and historical features. St. Peter’s hosted the first performance of Handel’s Messiah in a parish church.
St. Peter’s is the Mother Church of The Langtons, dating back to Norman times and was possibly an Anglo Saxon minster. This medieval church, of amazing proportions has so much heritage of interest dating from the late 13th and early 14th centuries with the tower, clerestory and nave arcades, the work of the 15th century.
Rector William Hanbury organised the first performance of Handel’s Messiah in a Parish Church in England in St Peter’s on 27th September 1759.
Victorian renovations resulted in the elaborate carvings on the pews and pulpit and a reredos in the chancel which is an alabaster representation of the Last Supper by Leonardo da Vinci.
