Worship for Launde Deanery – October 2025

Welcome to October and the beautiful season of Autumn. This month is notable for its Hunter’s Moon – In fact, this special moon is the first of three ‘Supermoons’ of 2025, when the moon is closest to the Earth – and seems especially bright and large in the sky. Here in our minster community, there are many places to see these incredible full moons.

New month and new service pattern

Church Langton Celebrates Richard Burton

With the 100 th anniversary of Richard Burton’s birth coming up on 10th November it seemed appropriate to show the film “Mr. Burton”.

MR. BURTON tells the true story of the relationship between Welsh schoolmaster Philip Burton and a wild young schoolboy called Richard Jenkins. The latter dreamed of becoming an actor, but his ambitions were in danger of being derailed by a combination of family trouble, the pressure of war, and his own lack of discipline.

Mr. Burton recognized the raw talent in his pupil, and made it his mission to fight for him, becoming his tutor, strict taskmaster and eventually his adoptive father. Actor Burton would go on to be nominated for seven Oscars.

All proceeds to support the upkeep and maintenance of St Peter’s Church, for which we are most grateful.
