Donations in The Langton villages

Members of our community in the Langtons come together like so many across the country, to remember the sacrifice made by our service men and women in the conflicts and wars in the world. At our Remembrance service, all proceeds kindly donated in the service at
St Peter’s support the Royal British Legion’s Poppy Appeal.

This year, for the first time, we can offer secure online donations, so that you can make a contribution even if you can’t attend the service.

All the money we raise goes to the Harborough branch of the Royal British Legion, so has a local connection for supporters based in this area. You can read more about the Harborough branch on their website here on this link.

However you choose to support, please do – Thank you.

For your tomorrow, we gave our today.”

Flower Festival at St. Peter’s / Choral Evensong

A wonderful weekend

Leicester Cathedral Choir sang at St. Peter’s Church for a full Choral Evensong on Sunday 2nd  July to mark the Festival of St. Petertide and to close a wonderful weekend of flowers, cakes and smiles.

The service was lead by Canon Philip Norwood, a longtime friend of our local
churches. Canon Philip has been part of our spiritual life, preaching and leading
worship over the years at Church, Tur and more recently Thorpe Langton. His voice was a joy to hear again.

Flower Festival

Our flower arranging team and many other volunteers, friends and family brought flowers and accessories to fill the church with summer!

From Wimbledon to the Tour de France, the seaside to the countryside, afternoon teas, garden to allotment, wildlife, bees and birds – All aspects of summer life were reflected in the displays. The displays took us from home to abroad, even to the gardens of South Africa – A world trip in flowers!

It was amazing! Incredible ingenuity and imagination in every part of the church.

Fundraising THANK YOU

This weekend event raised over £1500 towards the Tower Project. We were overwhelmed by the generosity in these difficult times. It was a great coming together of our parishes and village community to decorate and celebrate and give thanks.

Enjoy a few memories here, but please send your photos too – We would love to add them to the website gallery! You can send them to us on our Facebook page or send them by email or for large files/videos use We Transfer to info@churchlangton.org.uk

Thank you!

Ride and Stride at St Peter’s

Saturday 9th September 2022

Ride + Stride is the single largest source of income for many Historic Churches Trusts enabling them to make Grants to places of Christian worship. Taking place on the second Saturday of September the funds raised can be split between the nominated Trust and the participants chosen church or chapel.

As ever Ride+Stride is a wonderful way to enjoy getting out and about safely as well as raising much-needed funds to support Grant applications from churches and chapels across the county.

St Peter’s is delighted to be taking part again this year – so look forward to welcoming you on foot, bike or hoof! If you are a bicycle or horse rider or a walker (Shanks’s pony?!), you would be most welcome to join this lovely event, which benefits so many churches locally and around the country.

St. Peter’s is looking for families to take part in this year’s Ride & Stride fundraiser on Saturday 9th September. A number of churches around here will be open for you to walk, cycle or ride to during the day. Church Warden Sue Johnson 07964073813 & Roz Folwell have sponsor forms and a list of local churches to plan your route or go on the website https://www.lhct.org.uk/ride-and-stride
