A Weekend of ‘Messiah’ at St Peter’s

Friday 13th and Saturday 14th May

Come and enjoy Messiah!

7.30pm – Doors open from 6.45pm

The Messiah was performed in an English parish church for the first time in 1759. It was held in St Peter’s church in the small hamlet of Church Langton in rural Leicestershire. The event was so popular, it caused traffic jams and filled every inn, in the area!

This weekend gives you the chance to find out how this unique performance came to be and why St. Peter’s was chosen – and then to enjoy a performance of the oratorio itself by The Knighton Chamber Orchestra, conducted by Dr Paul Jenkins with the Community Choir – Join in either as a member of the audience or as part of the Community Choir.

Cream teas 2021

Update and funds raised

The Cream Teas have now finished for the year.  Thanks to all who supported us through out the Summer and a big, big thank you to all the helpers.

It was decided because of the Covid Pandemic to move the Cream Teas to the Langton Community Hall in order that folks had access to toilet facilities and washing of hands. Whilst the Community Hall was lovely, it was not without it’s difficulties and folks did miss the atmosphere of the Church, even though it was warmer!

The total raised after expenses was £1,146.00. This will go towards the upkeep of the building, many thanks once more, see you next year!

Thank you!
