Flower Festival at St. Peter’s / Choral Evensong

Leicester Cathedral Choir to sing at St Peter’s Church Langton, Sunday 2nd July, 6pm

Leicester Cathedral Choir will sing at St. Peter’s Church for a full Choral Evensong on Sunday 2nd  July 6.00pm to mark the Festival of St. Petertide.

It may not be common knowledge, that Leicester Cathedral has been closed since
January 2022 for major restoration. During this time, the Cathedral Choir have been
invited to sing at churches around the Diocese and beyond in an initiative
called, ‘Together with Leicester Cathedral’.

Maxine Johnson invited them to attend to mark the occasion of our Patronal Festival
for St Peter. Everyone is welcome to join us for what we know will be a wonderful
occasion.

St. Peter’s church is well known for its fabulous acoustics and of course its musical
heritage.

We have no record if or when the Cathedral Choir have performed at St. Peter’s
before. This appearance could well be a first as the Cathedral Choir is relatively new.
St Martin’s in Leicester was chosen as Leicester Cathedral when the Diocese was
re-established in 1927.

The service will be lead by Canon Philip Norwood, a longtime friend of our local
churches. Canon Philip has been part of our spiritual life, preaching and leading
worship over the years at Church, Tur and more recently Thorpe Langton.

Flower Festival – Saturday 1st July, and Sunday 2nd July, 10am – 4pm

We will also be holding a flower festival the same weekend. The PCC wants the
Church to look at its best for the occasion and believe that filling the building with
flowers will make it look spectacular.
