Cinema in the Langtons presents ‘The Dig’ starring Ralph Fiennes

In the late 1930s, wealthy landowner Edith Pretty hired amateur archaeologist Basil Brown to investigate the mounds on her property at Sutton Hoo, near Woodbridge Suffolk. He and his team discovered an Anglo-Saxon ship while a burial mound.

Starring Carey Mulligan and Ralph Fiennes, now is your chance to see this film if you missed it when it came out in 2021, or even see it again. Chosen by Cinema in the Langtons team to coincide with the Leicestershire Festival of Archaeology which runs the first two weeks in July and the nationwide festival with takes over the last two weeks. A must-see for fans of a dig and all things archaeology.

Cream Teas  Are Back!  

Cream Teas return to St. Peter’s, Church in Church Langton, by popular demand, starting on Sunday 29th June until 28th September  3.00-5.00pm

Come and sample the excellent cake and scones at very reasonable prices.  A lovely space to enjoy your tea with your friends and family. Our cream teas will bring a smile to your face, like our lovely ladies here – We look forward to welcoming you!

The success of our cream teas relies on the generosity of our local volunteers – The brilliant people who make the cakes and scones, serve teas and welcome our visitors and above all, those who kindly set up the tables and do the washing up – All vital and essential tasks!

Summer Concert No 1: Guitar – Yvonne Bloor

Sunday 29th June – 2pm – Venue: St Peter’s Church, Church Langton

St Peter’s Church Summer Concert season 2025 opens on Sunday 29th June with a recital by classical guitarist, Yvonne Bloor. She will perform from 2.00pm until 2.45pm.

Tickets on the door cost £5 and £8 with coffee and cake included.

About Yvonne Bloor

Yvonne Bloor is a classical guitarist and composer, based in Leicester. Yvonne gained her Master of Music in solo guitar performance from the Royal Northern College of Music and is also a Fellow of the Royal Schools of Music and a Licentiate of the Guildhall School of Music and Drama and the London College of Music.

Yvonne has performed concerts in the UK and abroad including appearances at the Bridgewater Hall, Manchester and broadcasts on BBC Radio Leicester. Yvonne’s charity concerts raised over £2,500 for Leicestershire Churches.

Yvonne has published three books of music, described as ‘excellent publications containing mature, melodic, interestingly harmonised, lovely little pieces’ (Classical Guitar Magazine.)

Yvonne’s composition, Promise, is published by Trinity College of Music in the 2016 examination series, and my piece Majesty, which was composed for the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations, is included in the Jubilee Time Capsule.

Summer Sunday – Afternoon Concerts

St Peter’s warmly invites you to our series of summer concerts for 2025. These concerts last around 45 minutes and take place at 2pm (1.45 on 27th July) on the last Sunday of each month £5 on the door – or £8 with coffee and cake.
