Events 2019
Summary of fundraising events
We ran events in 2019 to continue to raise funds to help with the repair of our North and South Aisle roofs following lead thefts in 2017, along with fundraising for other causes. The PCC is indebted to the support of our local and wider community, who have helped to organise, lead the events but above all, the people who have come to take part and donated so generously. All are very much loved and appreciated! Thank you 🙂
Meanwhile, here are some of the great events we enjoyed…
Events report 2018
Summary of fundraising
Spring Concert – Janette Munroe and Il Destino, with the choir of Church Langton Primary School
An outstanding event which filled St Peter’s with people and music! This wonderful concert brought London’s West End to Church Langton! It evoked the 18th Century music festival organised by Rev Hanbury himself! This outstanding concert took place on 5th May on the first glorious evening of this glorious summer! We were treated to some of the biggest hits from Broadway and the West End. The singers were supported by the choir of Church Langton Primary School – who sang so well, it’s argued that they stole the show! This event raised £2,911 – Huge thanks to all!

Cream Teas 2018
Another successful season of Cream Teas, raising £1,500, even though we were competing against Wimbledon, the World Cup and the Commonwealth Games!
We pay special tribute to Betty Morley and Carol Hall who both retired this season. We are indebted to their long service!

Fabrics and phases of Leicestershire Churches
A talk by Dr Mike Hawkes, Archaeological Advisor to the Diocese of Leicester. This event was held on 25th July as part of the Festival of Archaeology. It was a lovely evening and so informative. We were delighted to welcome 56 people and raised £287.

Festival of Archaeology – Leicestershire & Rutland
Picture St Peter’s – Drawing morning
Lovely morning on 10th July with local artists drawing the church and its grounds. The drawings feature on the Gallery page and many thanks for donating so generously. We raised £120!

Market Harborough Historical Society visit
40 members of the MHHS had a guided tour of the church and grounds on a beautiful summer evening and made a generous donation of £120 – we learned so much about St Peter’s and its amazing history.
Harvest Barn Dance
Fantastic evening with ‘Bang on the Wall’ We danced, jumped and revived with a fish and chip supper! Thanks to all!

Concorde and canapés – Illustrated talk
A glamourous event to launch our Roof Appeal! Guests were treated to a fascinating glimpse into life aboard this iconic aircraft by former Senior Pilot, John Hutchinson. We relived the style, romance and excitement of Concorde along with the Red Arrows and the QE2. Wine and canapés were served and raised £606 – a wonderful start to the campaign.
