St Peter's church is set in the village of Church Langton, in south Leicestershire, near to the town of Market Harborough. Worship is Church of England (Anglican). St Peter's is one of the churches forming the Benefice of the Langtons and Shangton in the Diocese of Leicester. St Peter's serves three villages, Church Langton, West Langton and East Langton and has friends and visitors from all over. We love to meet new people and visitors. Everyone is welcome! St Peter’s is delighted to welcome you to this year’s Summer Tours and a talk by our own Maxine Johnson, Lay Incumbent on the Marian Martyr, Laurence Saunders. These events are held as part of the Leicestershire & Rutland Festival of Archaeology, a two-week celebration of history in our two counties.

Discover the tremendous history of the church and see an early medieval carved figure; learn about 18th Century eccentric and visionary William Hanbury, the first performance in a parish church of Handel’s Messiah and see the beautiful renovations designed by the architect Joseph Goddard.

Cream Teas run every Sunday afternoon now until the end of September at the Community Hall, just past the school on the right – St Peter’s is open to visitors as well, so take a tour and enjoy a tea!

Homemade cakes and scones available for purchase as well as plants and produce – Church open for visitors

We start our Cream Tea season on Saturday and Sunday, 1st and 2nd July with our Flower Festival and Choral Evensong – a very special service with the Leicester Cathedral Choir – Read more here.

We look forward to welcoming our regulars and new visitors to enjoy tea and homemade cakes and scones in the Langton Community Hall, where car parking and toilets are available.

St Peter’s church is open to visitors at the same time, please so take a tour of our lovely church and its grounds and then enjoy a tea!

Summer Concerts at St Peter’s Church

Sunday afternoon concerts

We are delighted to announce a wonderful programme of concerts at St Peter’s Church which will take place on the last Sunday of the months of June, July, August and September, from 3pm – 3.45pm.

  • Sunday 25th June: Foxton Community Choir
  • Sunday 30th July: Knighton Chamber Orchestra
  • Sunday 27th August: Organ Recital
  • Sunday 24th September: GBRT Orchestra

Tickets are £5.00 or £8.00 with tea/coffee and cake.

Tickets can be purchased on the door but please contact us by email clergy@churchlangton.org.uk to reserve tickets with refreshments for our caterers.

St. Peter’s church is well known for its fabulous acoustics and of course its musical
heritage. Come and experience it for yourself, the surroundings are steeped in history, with carvings in wood and stone, stained glass windows, enhanced with simple flower arrangements. Music in St Peter’s is balm for the soul and a treat for all the senses. We look forward to welcoming you.
