After such a long time, it does feel good to be able to begin community and heritage events again at St. Peter’s. Here are some key dates for your diary, we look forward to seeing you!
Cream Teas – from Sunday 27th June, 3pm – 5pm, at the Community Hall
Cream Teas will begin and run every Sunday afternoon from Sunday 27th June, and hopefully, until the end of September. The church will be open for visitors as usual, but to provide toilets and handwashing facilities, the Cream Teas will now be held in the Community Hall. Home made cakes and scones available for purchase as well as plants and produce.
Guided Tours of St Peter’s – Sundays 4th and 18th July, 2.00pm
As part of the month long Festival of Archaeology in Leicestershire & Rutland https://leicsfieldworkers.org/festival-of-archaeology/ these guided tours will highlight the tremendous history of the church from an early medieval naked figure, the 16th Century martyr Laurence Saunders, 18th Century eccentric and visionary William Hanbury and organ casing for the first performance in a parish church of Handel’s Messiah, to the beautiful renovations designed by the architect Joseph Goddard. Flower Festival – Sunday 11th July, 11.30 to 5.30pm
Following a wedding the previous day, the flowers arranged by a London florist, will remain in the church for the community and wider audience to enjoy. The family have kindly offered this in the hope that much need funds will be raised for the church.
